Panchang 10 August 2026: Second Sawan Somvar
Today is the second Sawan Somvar, the second of only four. It carries a second observance too. Trayodashi takes over at 8:00 AM, and a Trayodashi running into a Monday evening is kept as Soma Pradosh. One day, two turns toward Shivji.
Today's Panchang
Krishna Dwadashi holds until 8:00 AM, then Trayodashi runs through the rest of the day. The Moon stays in Ardra until 12:27 PM and then enters Punarvasu. Yoga is Vajra, karana is Taitila. Sunrise is 5:47 AM in Delhi and sunset 7:06 PM.
The Moon is down to 10 percent and still waning, two days out from Amavasya. So the second Somvar lands near the darkest point of the month rather than a bright one.
Ardra belongs to Rahu. Punarvasu, which takes over at 12:27 PM, belongs to Guru (Jupiter) and its deity is Aditi. The name Punarvasu means the return of light. The morning is sharp and the afternoon settles. If your day has a heavy part, put it after 12:27 PM.
The Timing That Matters Today
Rahu Kaal runs 7:27 AM to 9:07 AM.
That is the second Sawan Monday running where Rahu Kaal sits on the hour most families keep the morning Shiv puja. Make your water offering before 7:27 AM, or wait until after 9:07 AM. Brahma Muhurat, just before dawn, is clear and asks for no compromise.
There is a second layer to it today. Rahu also rules Ardra, the star the Moon holds all morning, so his hour and his star overlap. Nothing in that stops the puja. It only makes the early start the better one.
Yamaganda runs 10:46 AM to 12:26 PM and Gulika 2:06 PM to 3:46 PM. Live times sit on the panchang for 10 August 2026.
Keeping the Second Somvar
Keep whatever form you kept on 3 August. The vrat pays back repetition more than effort.
Bathe before sunrise, offer water to a Shivling, and place bilva leaves in threes. Chant Om Namah Shivaya one hundred and eight times. Keep one meal after sunset.
Two Mondays are left after today, on 17 and 24 August. The full method and both calendars are on the Sawan 2026 guide.
Soma Pradosh in the Same Evening
Trayodashi began at 8:00 AM and is still running at sunset, and the pradosh window sits around sunset at 7:06 PM. Trayodashi on a Monday is Soma Pradosh.
That gives today one worship at dawn and another at dusk. Bathe again before sunset, light a lamp, and offer water a second time. Households keeping the Somvar fast usually break it after this evening worship rather than before it. The method is on the Soma Pradosh guide.
Beginning a Rudraksha Today
A Sawan Monday is the traditional day to put on a rudraksha for the first time. The Shiva Purana calls the five-faced bead Rudra himself and gives it the name kalagni, which is why most people start there. The day itself is living tradition, not something that book sets down.
Every Naksham bead is an Original Nepal rudraksha, hand selected, and each bead is lab certified on its own. A free lab X-ray certificate ships with every bead, at every price. To match the mukhi to your own chart, the rudraksha calculator reads your kundali and returns it.
