Panchang 9 August 2026: Ekadashi Fast and Rudra's Own Star
Krishna Ekadashi is running at sunrise today, which makes this the fast day. It is the Ekadashi of Sawan's dark fortnight, it lands on a Sunday, and the second Sawan Somvar follows the very next morning.

Krishna Ekadashi holds until 11:05 AM, then Dwadashi. The Moon stays in Mrigashira until 2:43 PM and then enters Ardra. Yoga is Vajra for almost the whole day, Harshana having ended at 2:05 AM. Karana is Balava until 11:05 AM. Sunrise is 5:46 AM and sunset 7:07 PM in Delhi.
The Moon is down to 19 percent, waning, and has moved into Mithuna (Gemini). Amavasya is three days out.
Rudra's Star Arrives at 2:43 PM
Ardra is presided over by Rudra, and Sawan is Rudra's month. That is the detail worth carrying through today.
Ardra is the storm star. Rudra's thunder tears through what has gone stale, and the rain that follows is the gift. It is not a gentle arrival and it was never meant to be. If the afternoon feels charged, that is the star and not you.
Mrigashira holds until then. It belongs to Soma and is the seeker, the deer's head lifted toward a scent. So the morning searches and the afternoon breaks something open. Fasting through both is easier than it sounds, because the morning is quiet.
Windows to Work Around
The morning is unusually clear today. Nothing blocks it from sunrise at 5:46 AM until Yamaganda opens at 12:26 PM. Brahma Muhurat is 4:10 AM to 4:58 AM and Abhijit runs 12:00 PM to 12:53 PM.
The back half is the opposite. Yamaganda runs 12:26 PM to 2:07 PM, Gulika 3:47 PM to 5:27 PM, and Rahu Kaal 5:27 PM to 7:07 PM, straight up to sunset. Keep the evening worship before 3:47 PM, or take it after sunset. Live timings are on the panchang for 9 August 2026.
Keeping the Ekadashi
Ekadashi belongs to Sri Vishnuji. The fast is kept from sunrise on fruit, milk, and water, with grain and beans left out. Households that keep the stricter form take only water.
The tithi ends at 11:05 AM, but the vrat follows the tithi running at sunrise, so the fast holds through the whole day and the night. It is broken tomorrow morning, Monday 10 August, after the first worship. That Monday is also the second Sawan Somvar, so this fast ends straight into a day given to Shivji.
