Kaal Sarp Dosha Calculator: Check Type, Effects, Remedies
Kaal Sarp Dosha is checked from the Rahu-Ketu axis in your birth chart. The full condition forms when all seven physical grahas, from Surya (Sun) through Shani (Saturn), sit inside one side of that axis.[1] Because the type depends on Rahu's house from Lagna (ascendant), this calculator needs your date, exact time, and place of birth.
Naksham treats this rule with care. Kaal Sarp is not named in BPHS or the older classical Jyotish texts. It comes from modern Nadi and tantric practice, then became popular in public astrology. We still check it because users search for it, but we label the source plainly before suggesting any remedy.
How Kaal Sarp Is Checked
The calculator first places Rahu and Ketu opposite each other, then places Surya, Chandra (Moon), Mangal (Mars), Budh (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), and Shani (Saturn) using Swiss Ephemeris with Lahiri Ayanamsa.[2] If every one of those seven grahas sits between the two nodes on the same arc, Kaal Sarp is marked present. If even one graha falls outside that arc, Naksham does not call it full Kaal Sarp Dosha.
12 Kaal Sarp Dosha Types
The name comes from Rahu's house from Lagna. This keeps the result specific, instead of giving every chart the same fear-based answer.
| Type | Rahu house | Main area |
|---|---|---|
| Anant | 1st | self and health |
| Kulik | 2nd | money and family |
| Vasuki | 3rd | courage and siblings |
| Shankhpal | 4th | home and mother |
| Padma | 5th | children, learning, and love |
| Mahapadma | 6th | debts, foes, and health |
| Takshak | 7th | marriage and partners |
| Karkotak | 8th | hidden matters and sudden change |
| Shankhachud | 9th | luck, father, and learning |
| Ghatak | 10th | career and public name |
| Vishdhar | 11th | gains, friends, and wishes |
| Sheshnag | 12th | spending, sleep, and foreign links |
Partial Kaal Sarp
Some astrologers discuss partial Kaal Sarp when most grahas, but not all, sit inside the node arc. Naksham does not mark that as full Kaal Sarp Dosha. A partial pattern may still make Rahu and Ketu feel strong, especially during Rahu or Ketu dasha, but it should not be sold as the complete condition. For wider timing, compare this with your Vimshottari dasha calculator.
Remedies Without Fear
Remedies for Kaal Sarp focus on calming Rahu and Ketu, not buying your way out of a curse. Start with Rahu or Ketu mantra, clean conduct on Saturdays and Tuesdays, simple charity, and a steady routine. Nag Panchami is a traditional day for serpent worship and Naga shrine offerings in many Panchang traditions.[3] Some families also worship Shivji with water offering and Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, but costly pujas are optional.
If your result shows Kaal Sarp, read it with the whole kundali. A strong Lagna, strong Moon, helpful Guru (Jupiter), and supportive dasha can soften the pattern. Use the free kundali by date of birth for chart context, the full kundali dosh check for other doshas, and the Sade Sati calculator for Shani transit timing. For marriage-specific Mars checks, use Manglik Check.
