Panchang 4 August 2026: Mangala Gauri Tuesday
Today is a Tuesday inside Sawan, which makes it a Mangala Gauri day. Married women keep this vrat (fast) for Maa Parvatiji, and there are four of them this month. The sky adds something of its own tonight. The Moon finishes a full round of the twenty-seven nakshatras.
Today's Panchang
Krishna Shashthi runs until 10:04 PM, then Saptami begins. The Moon travels through Revati until 9:54 PM and then enters Ashwini. Yoga is Dhriti until 7:33 PM. Karana is Garaja until 10:33 AM. Sunrise falls at 5:43 AM and sunset at 7:11 PM in Delhi.
The Moon sits in Meena (Pisces) at 72 percent light, waning. Six days have passed since the full moon and eight remain before the new one.
The Moon Closes a Circle
Revati is the twenty-seventh nakshatra, the last one. Ashwini is the first. At 9:54 PM tonight the Moon crosses that seam and starts the round again.
Revati belongs to Pushan, the deity who walks travellers to the end of a road and hands them over safely. That is the shape of the whole day. It favours finishing more than starting. Close the file, return the call, settle the small thing you have carried all week. Anything you want to begin fresh will sit better tomorrow, once the Moon is in Ashwini.
Windows to Work Around
Rahu Kaal runs 3:49 PM to 5:30 PM. That is late afternoon, well clear of the morning worship, so the Mangala Gauri puja has an open dawn today.
Yamaganda sits 9:05 AM to 10:46 AM and Gulika 12:27 PM to 2:08 PM. Brahma Muhurat, 4:07 AM to 4:55 AM, is the strongest window of the day and needs no compromise. Abhijit runs 12:00 PM to 12:54 PM. Live timings are on the panchang for 4 August 2026.
Keeping Mangala Gauri
This vrat is carried by living tradition rather than by a text we can point you to, and the form varies by family. We would rather say that than invent a source for it.
The common practice runs like this. Bathe before sunrise. Set a small image of Maa Parvatiji, and offer flowers, haldi (turmeric), and a lit lamp. Households that keep the fuller form add the sixteen items of shringar. Chant your family mantra one hundred and eight times, read or listen to the Mangala Gauri katha in the evening, then take one meal.
Married women keep it for the health of the house. Nobody else is barred from it. If a fast is not possible for you, keep the lamp and keep the count. The remaining Tuesdays and the four Somvar dates are on the Sawan 2026 guide.
Counting to 108
A mala holds the count so your attention can stay on the mantra instead of your fingers.
The Naksham Panchmukhi mala strings 108 Original Nepal rudraksha, hand selected, and knotted on sacred cotton rather than silk. Every bead is lab certified under AstroGrade™, and a free lab X-ray certificate ships with it. The Shiva Purana calls the five-faced bead Rudra himself and gives it the name kalagni, which is why it is the one most people count on.
