How to Choose Your Rudraksha

Every Rudraksha bead carries natural lines called mukhi, the faces that run from top to bottom. The mukhi count ties the bead to a graha and to a steady result. Panchmukhi, the five-faced bead, is the most worn of all. It belongs to Guru (Jupiter) and gives broad protection, so most people start here. Higher mukhi beads each speak to their own planet, and our guides help you match the right face to your goal.

Authenticity is the whole game with Rudraksha. Every bead we sell comes from Nepal, where the seeds grow larger and the mukhi lines run clean and true. Each one is lab certified and X-ray verified at a government-approved lab, so you can see the real inner chambers, not a glued fake. The X-ray certificate comes free with every bead. Every bead is energised with Pran Pratishtha before it ships, sacred to Shivji, and our experts stay on call to guide your choice.

Pair Your Bead With a Japa Mala

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do malas have 108 beads?+
108 is sacred in Hindu tradition: 108 Upanishads, 108 Divya Desams, and 12 rashis times 9 grahas. One full mala round symbolically completes an entire cosmic cycle through sound.
Which mala should I choose: Rudraksha or Tulsi?+
Both are equally powerful. Rudraksha is ideal for Shivji-focused practice (Om Namah Shivaya). Tulsi is ideal for Sri Vishnuji devotion (Om Namo Narayanaya or the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra). Choose based on your deity or personal resonance.
What is the Sumeru bead and why should I not cross it?+
The Sumeru is the larger bead marking the start and end of the mala. It represents the Guru. Never cross it during japa. When you reach it, flip the mala and continue in reverse.
Can I wear my mala throughout the day?+
Yes. Both Rudraksha and Tulsi malas are traditionally worn all day. Many practitioners never remove them. Just avoid contact with soaps, chemicals, and water.
How should I hold the mala during japa?+
Drape it over your middle finger and pull each bead with your thumb. The index finger should never touch the beads. Keep a steady, unhurried rhythm because it's about absorption, not speed.
How do I care for my mala?+
Rudraksha: oil monthly with sesame or almond oil, avoid chemicals. Tulsi: avoid water, soaps, and perfumes. Rub with sandalwood oil if fragrance fades. Store both in a cotton or silk pouch.

Rudraksha Beads: A Buyer's Guide

What Is a Rudraksha Bead?

A Rudraksha is the seed of the Rudraksha tree, sacred to Shivji. Worn close to the body, it is said to calm the mind and steady the breath. The Rudraksha Jabala Upanishad says these beads guard the wearer and clear the mind through the day. Each bead carries natural ridges called mukhi, the faces that run from top to bottom. The mukhi count is how you read the bead and how you choose the right one for your goal.

Reading the Mukhi: Faces and Grahas

The mukhi count ties each bead to a graha and to a steady result. Ek Mukhi, the single-face bead, aligns with Surya (Sun) and is the rarest of all. Panchmukhi, the five-face bead, belongs to Guru (Jupiter), gives broad protection, and is the safe place to start. Higher mukhi beads each speak to their own planet, and the rare Gauri Shankar bead joins two seeds in one. Sort by mukhi above, read the bead's own guide, and match the face to what you need.

Why Nepal Origin Matters

Not all Rudraksha is equal. Nepal beads grow larger, with deeper, cleaner mukhi lines than beads from other regions. Every Rudraksha we sell is Original Nepal, hand selected for true mukhi count and natural grain. We never sell dyed, glued, or carved fakes. When you hold a Naksham bead, you hold a real seed, picked for the lines that matter.

Lab Certified and X-Ray Verified

Trust is the whole point with Rudraksha, so we prove it. Every bead is lab certified under AstroGrade™, our own testing standard, and X-ray verified at a government-approved lab. The X-ray shows the real inner chambers, one per face, so you can see the bead is genuine and not a glued counterfeit. Your X-ray certificate comes free with every bead and records the mukhi, the origin, and the test date.

Energised, and Backed by Expert Support

Every Rudraksha is energised with Pran Pratishtha before it ships, the classical step where a trained priest invites the sacred energy into the bead with mantra. It arrives consecrated and ready to use, not just a raw seed. Most beads ship loose, so you can string them your own way. The 5 Mukhi comes strung on a cotton thread. Silver capping is a paid add-on we fit on request, and it comes with no thread. Still unsure which mukhi suits you? Our experts stay on call to guide your choice, so you buy the right bead the first time, not a market gamble.
