Why the five-faced bead
Per the Shiva Purana, the five-faced rudraksha is Kalagni Rudra. The Rudraksha Jabala Upanishad also gives the bead five sacred faces.
Rudraksha belongs to Shivji’s tradition. The five-faced bead is the form used throughout both sets.
Starting on a Sawan Monday is a living tradition. These books do not name that timing, so we do not pretend they do.

Sawan 2026 runs 30 July to 28 August 2026 in North India. The four Sawan Mondays fall on 3 August, 10 August, 17 August, and 24 August. Sawan Shivratri, the biggest night of the month, falls on 11 August.
