Your Rashi shows one layer of compatibility. The Nakshatra inside adds the depth.
Run your full 36-point matchVedic astrology maps the sky into twelve signs called Rashis. Your Rashi is the sign where the Moon sat at the moment of your birth. This is the Moon Sign, not the Sun Sign used in Western horoscopes. Naksham's analysis reveals that the Moon rules your heart, your mood, and your daily mind state. That is why marriage match uses the Rashi first.[1]
Each Rashi has one ruling planet (graha) and one element (tattva). These two facts shape how the sign feels in a match.

Bhakoot is one of the eight kootas in the 36-point Gun Milan match. It carries seven points. Bhakoot looks at the gap between the boy's Rashi and the girl's Rashi. Three gaps are flagged as growth areas by Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra[1] and Muhurta Chintamani[2].
The good news is that Bhakoot has many built-in fixes. If the Rashi lords are friends, the dosha is cancelled. If the Rashi lords are the same planet, again cancelled. These Parihars are named in the classical texts and matter more than the raw pair gap. For the full Bhakoot rule set, read our Bhakoot Dosha pillar page.
Some Rashi pairs match so well that classical texts call them natural friends. Naksham's analysis reveals three strong friend-pair groups.
When two Rashis share the same ruling planet, the pair holds a natural bond. Both Moons sing in the same tune. Here are the pairs with a shared lord.
The twelve Rashis sort into four elements. Each element has three Rashis. Same-element pairs feel natural to each other.
Some pairs of different elements also match well. Air feeds fire. Water feeds earth. These pairs hold a strong give-and-take flow.
Rashi is only one layer of a full Vedic match. The sign gives you a wide strokes read. The real detail lives deeper. Naksham's view is that a pair must look at four layers before they decide.
Rashi alone is a quick check. It is not a life decision. Always run the full 36-point Gun Milan match with both birth charts side by side. If birth time is not known, a partial check is still very useful.
