Bhakoot is one of the eight kootas in the 36-point Gun Milan match. It carries seven points. Bhakoot looks at the gap between the boy's Rashi and the girl's Rashi. Three gaps are flagged as growth areas by Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra^[1] and Muhurta Chintamani^[2].

• 2-12 pair (Dwi-Dwadash). Signs that sit next to each other in the sky. One gives, one takes. Texts say this pair may feel tied to money worries. Many real marriages work well after a chart-level check.
• 5-9 pair (Pancham-Navam). Five houses or nine houses apart. Classical texts flag this as a growth area for children. Jupiter aspect often softens this pair fully.
• 6-8 pair (Shadashtak). Six or eight signs apart. This is the one most watched by family priests. Care is asked for. Not a block.

The good news is that Bhakoot has many built-in fixes. If the Rashi lords are friends, the dosha is cancelled. If the Rashi lords are the same planet, again cancelled.
