What is Bhakoot Dosha?
Bhakoot (Rashi pair) is the 7th koota in Ashtakoota matching. It is worth 7 points out of 36. Only Nadi carries more weight. Naksham's classical read checks the Rashi (moon sign) of both partners. If the two Rashis fall in 2-12, 5-9, or 6-8 positions from each other, Bhakoot Dosha applies.[2]
The moon sign is the seat of the mind. It shapes your mood, home life, and daily pace. When two minds sit in difficult Rashi pairs, friction can rise. But friction is not doom. Classical texts also list clear Parihar (cancel) rules. A flagged Bhakoot with a Parihar is fully cancelled.

The Three Rashi Pairs
2-12 Pair (Dwirdwadasha)
In the 2-12 pair, one partner's Rashi is 2 signs away from the other's. Or 12 signs the other way. Classical texts call this Dwirdwadasha (Dwi means 2, Dwadasha means 12). Muhurta Chintamani links this pair to money and resource strain.[1] One partner often gives more than they take.
In daily life, a 2-12 couple may feel out of step on spending. One saves, the other spends. This is not bad on its own. But it needs honest talk about money early. Parihar: if both Rashi lords are the same or good friends, the pair is saved.
5-9 Pair (Panchama-Navama)
The 5-9 pair sits 5 signs apart. Panchama means 5th house, Navama means 9th house. Classical texts link this pair to progeny (children) and growth concerns.[2] Some view it as a test of shared values. The 5th house rules children and creativity. The 9th house rules faith and fortune.
A 5-9 couple often has strong views but from different angles. This can be a gift if both respect each other. Parihar: friend Rashi lords or a strong Jupiter (Guru) aspect cancels the flag. Many 5-9 couples raise happy kids and share a deep bond.
6-8 Pair (Shashta-Ashtama) — The Most Watched
The 6-8 pair is 6 or 8 signs apart. Shashta means 6th house, Ashtama means 8th house. Classical texts rank this as the hardest pair.[2] The 6th house rules health and daily trials. The 8th house rules deep change and hidden matters.
A 6-8 couple may face health dips or sudden shifts in the marriage phase. This is why it is watched most. But Muhurta Chintamani is clear: if any of the four Parihar rules apply, the 6-8 flag lifts fully.[1] Even without Parihar, care and patience smooth the path.

Run Kundali Matching nowWhen Bhakoot Cancels (The Four Parihar Rules)
Muhurta Chintamani lists four clear cancel rules. If any one rule applies, the Bhakoot flag lifts fully.[1] Naksham's analysis checks all four in every match report.
- 1
Same Rashi Lord
If both partners' Rashis share the same ruling planet, the dosh cancels. For example, Mesha (Aries) and Vrishchika (Scorpio) are both ruled by Mangal (Mars). A pair with these two Rashis is saved.[1]
- 2
Friend Rashi Lords
If the two Rashi lords are mutual friends in the Vedic friendship chart, Bhakoot softens and often cancels. Surya (Sun) and Guru (Jupiter) are natural friends. So are Chandra (Moon) and Mangal (Mars).[2]
- 3
Parivartana (Planetary Exchange)
A full swap between two planets. If the lord of Rashi A sits in Rashi B, and the lord of Rashi B sits in Rashi A, the pair is rescued. This yoga is a strong cancel.[3]
- 4
Jupiter's Aspect on 7th House
Guru (Jupiter) aspecting the 7th house from either Lagna cancels Bhakoot. Jupiter is the grace planet. Its view on the marriage house smooths any Rashi pair tension.[4]
Remedies for Bhakoot Dosha
If no Parihar applies, classical texts offer clear remedies. Work with a trained astrologer for the right fit.
- Vishnu Sahasranama paath. A daily chant of the 1000 names of Vishnu brings peace to the Rashi bond.
- Bhakoot Dosha Nivaran Puja. A classical puja done before or soon after the wedding. It lifts the flag with proper rituals.
- Jupiter (Guru) gemstone. Yellow sapphire may help, but only with a proper chart read. Never wear a stone without an astrologer's advice.
- Charity on Thursdays. Thursday is Guru's day. Giving food or yellow items on this day pleases Jupiter and softens the dosh.
