The 18-Point Rule from Muhurta Chintamani

Muhurta Chintamani^[1] is the classical Vedic text on marriage timing. It sets the 18-point rule clearly. Half of 36 is 18. So the rule is simple. If your score crosses 18, the match is allowed.

When Parihar Saves a Low Score

The classical texts are kind. They do not leave a low score without hope. Many Parihar rules can lift the match. Naksham's analysis reveals the most common ones.

Same Rashi lord. If both partners share the same Rashi lord, Bhakoot Dosh gets cancelled. For example, both in Mesha (Aries) and Vrishchika (Scorpio). Both ruled by Mangal (Mars).
Mutual aspect. If the Rashi lords aspect each other in the chart, Bhakoot Dosh softens.
Same Gana with friend Rashi. Gana Dosh can be lifted when the Rashi lords are friends.
Both partners Manglik. Fire meets fire. Balance returns.
Jupiter aspect on 7th house. Guru (Jupiter) is the natural blessing planet for marriage. His aspect heals many chart issues.
Strong Navamsa (D9). If both D9 charts are strong, low Kundali score loses weight.

What Else Matters Beyond the Number

What if we score above 32?+

32 out of 36 and above is rare. Classical texts call this an ideal match, sometimes called a "Raja Yoga" match in marriage terms. Almost every Koota aligns. But remember, even a 32 score needs a Manglik cross-check. The full 36 is very hard to get because Nadi Koota has built-in opposites by design.

What are Parihar rules and how do they help?+

Parihar means "cancellation" or "remedy" in Sanskrit. The classical texts name many Parihar rules. For example, if both partners are Manglik, the Dosh cancels.
