How to Use the Numerology Alphabet Chart
Turning a name into a number takes four simple steps. Once you know them, you can read any name, your own, a friend's, a business, even a pet's.
Step 1: Write Out the Name
Pick the name you want to read. On the Vedic (Chaldean) chart, use the name you are most commonly known by, the one people actually call you in daily life. That is the name whose vibration is active around you right now.[1]
Step 2: Look Up Each Letter's Number
Using the Vedic (Chaldean) chart above, find the number for each letter in the name. Write the number under each letter so you can see the full breakdown.
Step 3: Add All the Numbers Together
Add every letter value to get a raw total. This unreduced total, called the compound number, carries its own meaning before you reduce it further.
Step 4: Reduce to a Single Digit
If the total has more than one digit, add the digits together. Keep going until you reach a single digit from 1 to 9. The one exception is the Master Numbers, 11, 22, and 33, which we keep whole because they carry a higher charge of their root.[2]

How Each Chart Assigns Letters
The Western Pythagorean chart assigns numbers by plain alphabetical position. A is the 1st letter, so A=1. B is the 2nd, so B=2. At I, the 9th letter, the cycle resets, so J=1, K=2, and on. It is tidy and easy to remember.[2]
The Vedic (Chaldean) chart, which Naksham uses, assigns numbers by the sound vibration of each letter. Letters with a similar sound share a number, whatever their place in the alphabet. For example, C, G, L, and S all take 3 because they share a sound quality. It is harder to memorise, but it is the reading that matches how the name actually sounds.[1]
The Number 9
On the Western chart, 9 is a normal digit, given to the letters I and R. On the Vedic (Chaldean) chart, 9 is sacred and never given to a letter. The pattern behind it: any number times 9 gives digits that add back to 9, which the tradition read as a sign of completeness.
Letters That Differ Most
A few letters swing a lot between the two charts. The letter F is 8 on the Chaldean chart but 6 on the Pythagorean one. The letter H is 5 on Chaldean but 8 on Pythagorean.
