Panchang 15 August 2026: Shiva Yoga on a Fixed Star
Two things line up today and both point the same way. The yoga is Shiva, and the nakshatra is one of the four classical fixed stars. Neither is dramatic on its own. Together they make today the day for whatever you intend to keep.
Today's Panchang
Shukla Tritiya holds until 5:29 PM, then Chaturthi begins. The Moon stays in Uttara Phalguni all day and only leaves at 3:26 AM tomorrow. Yoga is Shiva, karana is Taitila. Sunrise is 5:50 AM in Delhi and sunset 7:01 PM. The Moon is 7 percent lit and waxing.
At sunrise the Moon is in the star's first quarter, which falls in Simha (Leo). Star lord and sign lord are both Surya (Sun), so the day is doubly his.
The Fixed Star
Uttara Phalguni is one of the four Dhruva nakshatras, the fixed group, alongside Rohini, Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada. Classical practice puts lasting work under them. Laying a foundation, signing an agreement, planting, taking a vow you mean to hold.
Its deity is Aryaman, who presides over friendship, alliance, and keeping your word. That is the useful reading of the star. It is not a star for a bright idea. It is a star for the boring follow-through that decides whether the idea survives.
Today is also Saturday, which belongs to Shani (Saturn). Shani is slow, and he is the graha of things that outlast the person who started them. He does not argue with a fixed star.
Windows to Work Around
Gulika opens right at sunrise, 5:50 AM to 7:29 AM, and Rahu Kaal follows from 9:08 AM to 10:47 AM.
So the early morning is not the hour for the important thing today. The long clean stretch runs 10:47 AM to 2:05 PM, and that is where a signing, a foundation, or a vow belongs. Yamaganda takes 2:05 PM to 3:44 PM, and after 3:44 PM the day is open again.
Live timings sit on the panchang for 15 August 2026.
About the Yoga Named Shiva
Shiva is the twentieth of the twenty-seven nitya yogas. The names come from the angular distance between Surya and Chandra, not from a mood somebody picked. It is a technical label that reads well inside Shivji's own month.
Take it as a small confirmation rather than the headline. The fixed star is doing the real work today. The yoga just agrees with it.
Tritiya Hands Over at 5:29 PM
Chaturthi begins at 5:29 PM and carries into tomorrow, which makes Sunday 16 August Vinayaka Chaturthi, the monthly bright-fortnight day kept for Sri Ganeshji. If your household fasts for it, tonight is when you set the food aside. The method is on the Vinayaka Chaturthi guide.
The third Sawan Somvar follows on Monday 17 August. Dates for both calendars are on the Sawan 2026 guide.
Wearing the Bead Where You Can See It
Uttara Phalguni suits a commitment you can keep in view. If you have been meaning to wear a rudraksha but keep taking a mala off, the wrist is the easier place to begin.
The Rudraksha Silver-Plated Bracelet uses Original Nepal beads, hand selected, each one lab certified on its own, with a free lab X-ray certificate at every price. The Shiva Purana traces the bead to tear-drops that fell from Shivji's half-closed eyes.
