Naksham's Panchang reads the sky for you. The Hindu Vedic calendar tracks five parts of the day. These are Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (Sun and Moon mix), Karana (half tithi), and Vara (weekday). The word comes from Sanskrit. Pancha means five. Anga means limb.[1]
Our engine plots the Sun and Moon for your sunrise. Tithi is anchored to local sunrise per Drik Panchang convention.[2] Vara is computed from sunrise per BPHS, not from civil midnight.[3]We use the Lahiri ayanamsa, the same one Rashtriya Panchang uses. Sunrise and sunset use the NOAA solar position model. Naksham is accurate within 1 to 2 minutes for India locations.
Adhika Masa (intercalary lunar month) is detected on its own. This matters in 2026 when Adhika Jyeshtha (waxing fortnight of Jyeshtha) runs May 17 to June 15. Makar Sankranti is detected as a solar event. It fires when the Sun enters Makara Rashi (Capricorn). Wednesday Abhijit is marked inauspicious per Muhurta Chintamani Ch. 2.[4]
