Business Opening Muhurat December 2026: Shubh Dates

Days that suit a shop or office opening this December: 8.

A business muhurat is the time to open a shop, office or new venture. The first day of trade is often kept as the start of the firm's story. A shubh time gives that first day a calm, steady feel.

Each time range shows when every condition holds together, and some run past midnight into the next morning.

Kharmas, when the Sun sits in Dhanu (Sagittarius) or Meena (Pisces)

16 Dec 2026, 10:25 am – 14 Jan 2027, 9:10 pm

For about a month at a time, the Sun passes through Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Meena (Pisces). Guru (Jupiter) rules both signs, and the Sun's heat dulls his blessing there. So weddings, housewarmings and openings wait until the Sun moves on.

These are the rules every listed date had to pass.

The Moon should sit in a nakshatra (lunar star) known for trade and quick, light work. A flawed tithi (lunar day), yoga or weekday rules a day out, as does Vishti (Bhadra). Openings wait through Kharmas, the Sun's month in Dhanu (Sagittarius) and in Meena (Pisces). Chaturmas and asta do not pause them, even when Guru (Jupiter) hides near the Sun.

Kharmas: Panchang convention followed by major almanacs. No owned classical verse states these pauses, so we name them as convention.

Gandanta: Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra, Ch. 92, vv. 1 and 3 (Santhanam): ceremonies like marriage avoid nakshatra gandanta. We exclude the full navamsa on each side of the Revati-Ashwini, Ashlesha-Magha and Jyeshtha-Mula junctions, as major almanacs do.

Computation: Swiss Ephemeris, Lahiri ayanamsa, New Delhi sunrise to next sunrise. Each listed span is when every condition holds together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does an online business need an opening muhurat?+

Many owners pick a shubh time for the launch or the first sale. The same checks apply as for a shop. It gives the first day a clear, steady start.

Should we use the registration date or the opening date?+

The day you start trading is the one most families time. Registration is paperwork and can happen on any working day. If both can be timed, start with the opening.

Why does Kharmas pause openings but not Chaturmas?+

Kharmas is a weak time for new starts, since the Sun stands in a sign ruled by Guru (Jupiter). Chaturmas mainly holds back family rites like weddings. So business dates carry on through it.

What is done at a business opening puja?+

Families often place a Sri Ganeshji image, light a lamp and write the first entry in a new account book. The first sale is made inside the shubh window. Keep it simple and sincere.
